Let me start by saying judgment is often very helpful, useful and necessary. And by now, we all know that the gut is very smart and it’s probably best to trust it more often than not.
That being said, if you can confirm, or reason through some situation to determine it’s relatively safe/beneficial- then the ambient, incessant judgment could be insecurity. Or to speak more of a meat head way- weakness. To be a little more precise, I’ll just say it’s unnecessary.
The hard part can be letting go of it even when you’ve already reasoned through it.
In attempting to advance through the video series comprising the yoga teacher training I’ve enrolled in, I hate to say it but I’m meeting a TONNNNNNNN of resistance because let’s just say the people showing the asanas and who’ve written the program are not quite what I would consider to be the images of health and discipline (two of the top aspects I admire most about the practice of yoga.)
Of course the universal inclusion of everyone being able to be a practitioner or even teacher of yoga I find quite inspiring and a much needed respite from the competitive flavor that other areas of life can take on.
But as I’m staring at the screen, trying my best to take mental and physical notes of what I’m learning… it just seems to me like fraud. Rubbish. Falsity. Lies. I don’t truly believe these are ‘yogis’ as I would define them. Therein lies a major loss of respect as I judge and judge and judge some more.
Wrong of me? Not quite sure. All I know is that I was extremely enthusiastic about following through with this course but my progress has been slow going because of the amount of judgment I’ve been radiating towards these people who have no clue I exist. All for what? Is it helping me or anyone else? Absolutely not.
Hey! I know, we’re all human and yes I acknowledge that I have a vain bend to my personality but I just don’t believe these people can truly be all that healthy. Yoga to me is one of the ultimate pathways to Capital-H Health. That’s why I’m so excited to learn it and help spread the joys of it in the first place.
So ultimately all this avoidance that I’m doing is really just… weakness.
Even if the judgment doesn’t stop, I have to finish what I started and make the best of the situation. And this is the meaning of that phrase: “It’s about who you become in the process.”
Thanks for reading my super unpopular opinion.
In other news, I had one of the best workouts of my entire life today after giving myself permission to do a million sets if I want to.
Got a good half hour on the yoga mat as well.
God bless you!
If you have the means and desire to help me grow my blog and my life, it would truly truly be appreciated!
I hope you got to drink some delicious tea today! And happy Labor Day tomorrow, I hope you do something really fun! Circumstances permitting, I’m planning on going on a longer version of the Parker Mesa Overlook trail again. Wish me luck!
Thank you so much and remember that everything is training so…
Train Amazing!
