Had an absolutely infuriating conversation with a family member today. One that I seriously doubt I’ll ever forget. One that confirms gut feelings that I’ve denied for the longest time because I couldn’t handle what that would mean if it were really true.
The truth hurts but it sets you free. I’m deeply saddened and disturbed but also relieved. I finally finally finally can say that my intuition is well-calibrated. That I am a very smart person. I am validated by all of it.
But it doesnt necessarily get me anywhere better as of yet. I’m tempted to take a Goggins-esque approach. But that’s what I’ve been doing this whole time. Shutting down my feelings to look good while feeling entirely wrong within myself. Even, less stable mentally. At least for this human, denying myself doesn’t actually work.
It all brings to mind how many distractions I put in rotation to try to feel better in the moment. I’m not going full Ted Kazinsky here but technology truly makes me wonder how much potential is spent each time I look at the phone. Each time I turn on a podcast in the car. Or at home.
I know seeking connection isn’t wrong but this just doesn’t feel right anymore.
Regardless, I had a great session with a client, got 2 gym workouts in and 11.5 mile run. I also worked a lot on my flexibility. My hamstrings need some serious work and maybe with less distractions I can get much closer to the mobility levels I desire.
God bless you. Hope you are heading into the weekend doing really well.
Let me know if you’ve had any situations that brought you head on into a similar conclusion. And let me know your awesome plans for the weekend! Or low key plans. Those are just as good in my book.
If you have the means, please contribute to my site here. The grind has been extra hard lately and whatever is on your heart to contribute really means so much.
Thank you! And remember always, to Train Amazing!
